MicroMat is pleased to announce version 2.1.1 of TechTool Pro 2. This version incorporates the previously promised optimization feature as well several other new enhancements.
File & Disk Optimization:
This feature allows the user to defragment both files and disks. The routines utilize high-level commands which allow extremely safe optimization as well as not requiring the user to boot from a separate or special disk.
New Interface:
Many users complained that the prior version of TechTool Pro was too complicated to use. We took those complaints very seriously and have added an additional new interface called "Simple." This will now be the default interface for the program. The other interfaces, "Standard" and "Expert" remain. Allowing the user to utilize either of three distinct interfaces makes TechTool Pro suitable for beginning, intermediate and advanced users.
"Auto-Repair" Preference:
Many users requested that we add an "Auto-Repair" preference, for unattended drive repair. This has been incorporated into v2.1.1.
Speedier Repairs:
We've optimized our repair routines and have greatly improved performance on the disk repair portions of the program.
Added Support for all new Macs including iMac:
TechTool Pro, as well as its bootable CD-ROM, are now fully compatible with the new line of G3 computers as well as the iMac.
System 8.5 Compatibility:
TechTool Pro 2.1.1 is fully compatible with System 8.5.
Hundreds of New Drive Conditions Can Now Be Repaired:
In the 7 months that TechTool Pro 2 has been shipping, we've discovered hundreds of new drive failure conditions the prior version did not address. Version 2.1.1 now addresses these problems, making the repair capabilities of the program very robust.
Added Grow Box to Standard Interface Window:
Many users requested the ability to resize the Standard interface window. We've added a handle to the lower right portion of the Standard interface which allows that window to be resized vertically.
Added "Minor" Warning:
Some users were startled when the "Skull & Crossbones" graphic would appear for something minor like errant bundle bits. We've added a new alert graphic which is much less intimidating when a minor issue is reported.
